The layout is main en-suite, with a kitchenette and lounge that leads through the front door to the porch and lawn, pocketed by a garden of Pandora’s and the Willow tree – welcoming shade on a hot summer’s day. ROOM RATES
Our rates are from R 790 per room per night, for two people (plus up to two dogs) and R 200 per extra person for up to two further guests, but more suited to children and not 2 extra adults due to limited space (4 total per cottage max). Accommodation is suitable for two adults sharing and one extra. Bring your own bedding for your animals please.

Take a stroll from your cottage down towards Frog Bay, cross the river and listen out for the thousands of frogs that call Frog Bay theirs, an undisturbed wetland at the tip of the Theewaterskloof Dam.

Meander up through the pear orchards and soak up the sun whilst swimming, picnicking and relaxing at your private dam.  Add to this a feast of scrumptious farm-fresh goodies from our local smoke house and deli.

Known as the “Pearl of the Overberg”, Villiersdorp is one of the few bustling towns (within an hour or so of the airport) left in the Western Cape that is not overrun by commercialism. The restaurants are personal, the portions generous and well-priced, and there are options for many different tummies.

Options range from traditional country food to home cooking and deli-style selections from the various country cafe’s.

Many activities area available to those seeking them out, although we at De Rust Cottage prefer to have our guests relax and soak up the countryside, and do as little as possible…

And that it is – the orchestra of the wildlife at night is a symphony of sounds!

We are pet friendly, so feel free to bring your furballs and enjoy the walking, splashing and swimming spots.

Sundowners can be anywhere – take time to find your favourite one. Ours is lounging on the hammock at the private Pear Dam with a fire crackling in the background.

Up until 2017, De Rust was a “just a farm”, with its beauty and secrets undiscovered and hidden away, like the private Pear Dam, nestled among the orchards and overlooking the valley and mountains beyond – the perfect hideaway to picnic, swim and soak up the sun…
